Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is a vertically integrated electric utility that generates, transmits and distributes electricity. It generates electricity from gas, steam, diesel and co-generation plants. Its transmission and distribution system comprises high-voltage transmission network including underground and overhead cables and distribution lines. SEC also builds independent power plants on a build, own and operate (BOO) basis. It has a stake in a joint venture, the Shoaiba project, on a BOO basis. The company provides electricity to government, industrial, agricultural, commercial, and residential consumers in Saudi Arabia. SEC is headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
